Gary Francis Baumann Sr., age 58, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday afternoon, December 28, 2011. Born on July 27, 1953, in Nurnberg, Germany, to Maj. Hubert and Jane (Williams)
Baumann, Gary married Kathy R. Rusch at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh on July 20, 1974. Kathy preceded Gary in death on November 18, 2002.
A graduate of Oshkosh West High School in 1972, Gary served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He became a certified welder, employed by Duo Ladder Company for 15 years. For the last two years he was an employee of Planeview Travel Plaza. An active volunteer for various community activities, Gary enjoyed playing cribbage, gambling, and was a loyal Detroit Lions fan.
Left to mourn his passing are two sons, Gary F. (Nicole) Baumann II of Oshkosh and Matthew (Mary) Baumann of Oshkosh; a daughter, Andrea (fiancé, Jeremy Tolle) Baumann of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Kyle, Alexis, and Christian; siblings, Roy (Greta) Baumann of Coco, Florida, and Judy Neilson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; father-in-law, John Rusch; brother-in-law, Dan Rusch; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Gary in death is his wife, parents, infant daughter, Betty Jane Baumann, a brother, Dan Baumann, mother-in-law, Betty Rusch, and a brother-in-law, Larry Neilson.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street.
