Gary R. Herbst, age 51, of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning, June 20, 2013, at Elderlodge in Neenah. Born on November 14, 1961, in Oshkosh, to Russell and Dorothy (Piper) Herbst, Gary was employed at Supreme Video and other retail and security jobs. He enjoyed dirt track racing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, Jeff (Jennifer) Herbst and Jeff's mother, Doreen Benedict, of Neenah; grandchildren, Hannah, Andrew, Gracie Mae, and a soon expected child; his long-time female companion, Anne Dunlap of Oshkosh; two sisters, Brenda (John) Haliburton and Susan (Richard) Witak, both of Oshkosh; an aunt and uncle, Cecil and Marion Piper of Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, and many good friends. Gary is preceded in death by a son, Nathaniel Herbst, a daughter, Elizabeth Herbst, his parents, and a brother, Albert Herbst.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street.
