Obituary

George B. Baerwald, age 82, of Oshkosh, died Friday morning, December 22, 2006 at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was born on April 1, 1924 in the Township of Eldorado to Albert and Ida (Bloedow) Baerwald. George married Ona Kellett on July 9, 1955 in Waukegan, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 15, 1998.


George was employed by Chief Oshkosh Brewery as a boiler attendant and later by Winnebago County Highway Department. He enjoyed gardening and helping others to prepare their gardens for planting. George served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.


Survivors include a sister, Sadie Luebke of Oshkosh; stepdaughter, Joyce Cross of Oshkosh; four step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding George in death are his wife, four brothers, and five sisters.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Ralph Hanusa officiating. Interment will take place in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A special thank you, from George's family, to the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community, for the tender care given to George during his stay.
