Gerald M. Judd Kosmer, age 82, of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at his home. He was born on April 1, 1921 in New London a son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Rousseau) Kosmer. Gerald married the former Alma Fischer on March 15, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Gerald proudly served his country in the US Navy in Okinawa during WWII. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, having served on the church council, as an usher and greeter and was a volunteer for the Zion Food Program and ADVOCAP. He had worked for the Miles Kimball Company, the Oshkosh Northwestern for 28 years until retirement, then part time for 21 years at Gartman Mechanical Services. Gerald enjoyed wood-working and lawn work. He greatly enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Alma of Oshkosh; a daughter, Sandra (Dale) Weitz of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Amy Geurts, Jennifer (Jay) Wolff and Timothy (Kelly) Weitz all of Oshkosh; four great-grandchildren, MaKenna Wolff and Ashley Geurts, Chloe Wolff and Emery Jay Wolff. He is further survived by a brother, Francis Joseph (Laura) Kosmer of Oshkosh and a sister, Eva Hable of Grant Pass, Oregon, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Gerald Kosmer in 1973; six brothers, Wilfred, Henry, Sylvester, Bernard, Richard and Lawrence Kosmer.
Funeral services for Gerald will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N. Sawyer Street with the Reverends Gerald Nerenhausen and Clyde Friedman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Gerald s name may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Food Program.
