Obituary

Geraldine J. Kienast, age 79, of Oshkosh, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. With her family at her side, she returned to the Lord on Thursday morning, January 20, 2005 at Aurora Medical Center. She was born on October 10, 1925 in Oshkosh to Chester and Esther (Missall) McCarthy. Geraldine married LuVern Kienast on August 21, 1943 in Oshkosh.
A very special part of Geraldine's life was her time spent with her family and loved ones, caring for her home, her yard, and helping her children to care for theirs. She worked for the family business for 61 years along with keeping a busy household of six children. Her hobbies included gardening, collecting beautiful keepsakes, going on adventures, and decorating her yard and home. She refused to let her illness take away her dignity and pride, and continued everyday to look as beautiful as she always was.
Geraldine is survived by LuVern, her husband of 61 years; five children: Linda (John) Pratsch; Patsy (Leon) Larson; James (Barbara) Kienast; Lisa Kienast; and Lee (Connie) Kienast all of Oshkosh; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers: Darryl (Beverly) McCarthy and Burleigh (Cheryl) McCarthy, both of Oshkosh; Dennis McCarthy of Galena, Illinois; one sister: Betty Losse of Oshkosh; thirteen nieces and sixteen nephews. Preceding Geraldine in death are her parents; one daughter: Judy Rusch; one grandson: Jay Michael Pratsch; three brothers: Homer, Merwin, and Chester McCarthy Jr.; and one sister: Gail Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, with Reverend Milton Staskal officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral chapel with entombment at Lake View Memorial Park.
Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who through her kindness, compassion, and loving ways, deeply touched the lives of those who had the opportunity to be close to her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Geraldine's family wish to express a special thank you to the Doctors and Staff at Aurora Medical Center for the care and concern shown to their wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
REMEMBER ME -
Remember me when flowers bloom Early in the spring
Remember me on sunny days In the fun that summer brings
Remember me in the fall As you walk through the leaves of gold And in the wintertime -
Remember me In the stories that are told But most of all remember Each day -
Right from the start I will be forever near For I live within your heart
