Germaine T. Nordhaus, age 76, of Oshkosh, died Monday morning, May 31, 2004 at Encore Senior Villa. She was born on April 3, 1928 in Oshkosh to John and Rose (Nigl) Seibold. Germaine married Carl Nordhaus Jr. on July 3, 1949 in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1995.
Germaine was a member of Saint Vincent Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She was employed as a sales clerk at Woolworth's and later at Kitz & Pfeil True Value Hardware for 25 years before her retirement. Germaine loved to get bargains at area rummage sales.
Survivors include two sons: Daniel (Catherine) Nordhaus of Oshkosh and John Nordhaus of Luxemburg, Wisconsin; one daughter: Susan (Sean) Wiley of Byron, Illinois; two granddaughters: Christine and Elizabeth Nordhaus, both of Oshkosh. Preceding Germaine in death are her husband and parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 11:00 a. m. in Saint John Catholic Church, 434 W. South Park Ave., with Reverend William Van DeKreeke officiating, assisted by Deacon Raymond Brandenstein. Family and friends may call on Friday, June 4, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the services at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the Christine Ann Center in Germaine's memory would be appreciated by her family.
Germaine's family wishes to thank the staff at Encore Senior Villa for their loving, compassionate, home-style atmosphere that was given to Germaine during her stay there.
