Gertrude Elizabeth Stroshine (nee, Hasse), of Oshkosh died on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 4:00 a.m. at Eden Meadows, where she had been residing the past six months. She was just a few days shy of her 100th birthday.
She was born in Milwaukee, WI, July 22, 1915, the daughter of the late William and Eleanore Hasse. She married Thomas A. Wollaeger on September 24, 1938. He preceded her in death May 30, 1959. She married Erwin W. (Bud) Stroshine on February 10, 1962. He also preceded her in death July 17, 1983.
Gertrude attended both Carleton College, Northfield, MN and the University of Wisconsin Madison, WI. She and Thomas Wollaeger were owners of the Oshkosh Tanning Co. She was a member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church for 70 years. She volunteered at the blood bank of the American Red Cross for 10 years, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was an avid gardener.
Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Cynthia (Michael) Bradley of Duluth, MN and Mrs. Pamela (Michael) Countryman of San Antonio, TX; two step-daughters: Mrs. Nancy Jo (Robert) Crabb of Appleton, WI and Mrs. Sue (Pete) Neumueller of Menomonee, MI; grandchildren: Sean Bradley of Duluth, MN, Patrick Bradley of Duluth, MN; Erin Perkins of Oakland, CA, Stefanie Gottschalk of Fort Worth, TX, Jeffery Kintopf, Andrew Kintopf and Charles Kintopf, all of Oshkosh, WI, and Karey Sieminski, Jean McMahon and Tracy Klatt all of Menominee, MI; 26 great- grandchildren; six great, great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Miriam Hasse.
Gertrude was also preceded in death by her son, Bruce Thomas Wollaeger; her brother, Theodore Hasse; and her son-in-law, Robert Kintopf.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at MARTIN LUTHER EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1526 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, with Rev. Nathan Ericson officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, WI.
A memorial has been established for Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.
