Gladys A. Hawkins, age 72, of Oshkosh, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2017, at Bethel Home. Born on June 11, 1944, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bernard and Emma (Weissinger) Weiss, Gladys married Delmar Hawkins on September 21, 1968, in Eau Claire and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2005.
A member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, Gladys was known for her beautiful flower gardens, her craftwork-especially sewing, and welcoming birds into her yard. Having lived in the rural area of Oshkosh, going into town was a cause of enjoyment for her.
Survivors include her four children, Darrell Hawkins of Oshkosh, Karen (Tory) Nordlinder of Menasha, Michelle (Terry) Walsdorf of Neenah, and Eric (Stephanie) Hawkins of Oshkosh; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Emma, Thora, Jake, step-granddaughter Aby, Jackson, and Johnny; her siblings, Bernadine Weiss, Rosie (Marv) Von Haden, Bernie (Sandy) Weiss, Linda (Larry) Reckin, Dolly (Gord) Berger, Ben (Jean) Weiss, and Debbie (Doug) Gruber; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Gladys in death is her husband, parents, and a nephew, Larry Lee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 30, 2017, in St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr., in Oshkosh, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Douglas LeCaptain officiating. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
