Obituary

Gladys L. Karoses, age 69 of Oshkosh, died peacefully in her home on Friday evening, June 17, 2005 after a two year long battle with cancer. Gladys, (who preferred to be known as "Happy") was born on January 12, 1936 in Cambellsport, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Richard and Hilda (Marquardt) Carter. She married the love of her life, James Karoses on August 4, 1956 in Cambellsport.
Gladys was a faithful member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and was active in the Grace Circle for many years there. Mostly, she devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and her home. She never stopped actively caring for all of the loved ones in her life, both family and friends. She will be missed tremendously by all of those who knew and loved her. She will continue to live on in the memories of all those whose lives she touched. In her family she was famous for home made doughnuts, potato dumplings, and Christmas cookies. Her constant love and care always had a positive impact on her family. She helped them to become better people. "We Love You Mom!"
Survivors include her husband, James Karoses of Oshkosh; three sons, Darrell (Amy) Karoses, Chris (Darlene) Karoses both of Oshkosh, Rick (Kimberly) Karoses of Appleton; a daughter, Sherry (Fred) Ruppel of Oshkosh; seven grandchildren, Erin, Alaina, James, Kayla, Colton and Cody Karoses and Nicholas Ruppel; four brothers, Norbert (Lucy) Carter , Walter (Ethel) Carter both of West Bend, Richard (Nevada) Carter of Washington State, Marvin (Margaret) Carter of Reno, Nevada and Melvin (Carol) Carter of Kenosha; two sisters, Bernice Patnode of California and Marion Virginia of West Bend. She is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Elder and Orrin Carter.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church 913 Nebraska Street with the Reverend Gregg Schoeneck officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held previous to the funeral service at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
