Gladys L. Ziebell, age 90, of Oshkosh, died Sunday evening, June 2, 2013, at Elijah's Place in Oshkosh. She died on what would have been her deceased husband's 95th birthday. Born near Zittau, Wisconsin, on April 24, 1923, to Henry and Elsie (Schmidt) Berndt, Gladys married Garnor Ziebell at Peace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1996.
A long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church and the choir, Gladys was a seasonal worker at both Oshkosh Truck Corporation and Miles Kimball Company. She enjoyed her garden and cooking for family members.
Left to mourn her passing are four sons, Mark (Janice) Ziebell, Paul (Connie) Ziebell, James Ziebell, and Thomas (Charleen) Ziebell; six grandchildren, Alina, Nathan, Allison, Catie, Abigail (Alan), and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Oskar and Ava; a brother, Grant (Pat) Berndt; a sister, Shirley Buck; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Berndt and several nieces and nephews. Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Norma Stoll, a brother, Merle Berndt, and two brothers-in-law, Warren Buck and Robert Stoll.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W. 9th Ave., with Reverend John Warzola-Dumke officiating. Interment will follow the services at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
