Obituary

Gordon Charles Hayman, age 88, of Oshkosh, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. He was born on January 15, 1922, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, eldest child of the late Edgar and Ellen (Schmidt) Hayman. Gordon served as a captain in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He married Anna Katherine McCluskey on July 24, 1943 in the chapel of the Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas where he was stationed. He was a member of the American Legion for over 40 years, and was a member of First English Lutheran Church. He was an air traffic controller for 29 years until his retirement in 1986.

Gordon will be remembered by his five children: the Rev. Mark Charles (Edna) Hayman of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dauna Hayman of Urbana, Illinois, Melinda (Kirby) Cheek of Bloomington, Illinois, Brian Paul (Peggy) Hayman of Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and Dianna (Rodney) Donner of Oshkosh. Also by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Melissa (Jon Jason) Barnett and daughters Abigail and Charlotte, Michelle (Bradford) Ware and son Liam, Megan (Matthew) Wagner, April (Tony) Werneburg and daughters Hannah and Paige, Emily Hayman, Molly Hayman, Samuel Donner, and Grace Donner. Also by his brother Dennis (Margot) Hayman of Geneva, Illinois. Gordon was preceded in death by his sister Gerda and his wife Anna.

Memorial service with military honors for Gordon will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street in Oshkosh.
