Gordon W. Stevenson, age 85, of Oshkosh, passed away Friday morning, June 24, 2005 at Bethel Home. He was born in Oshkosh on June 13, 2005 to William and Lydia (Kuebler) Stevenson. On June 28, 1946 Gordon married Betty Jane Bartelt in Oshkosh.
Gordon was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from June 1942 to October 1945. He loved bowling, playing golf, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching sports on T.V. Gordon worked at Miles Kimball for 40 years before retiring. For many years Gordon was President, Secretary, and Treasurer of several bowling leagues. In 1989 he was inducted into the Oshkosh Bowling Hall of Fame, and the 1993 Oshkosh Bowling Yearbook was dedicated to Gordon.
Gordon is survived by his wife: Betty Stevenson of Oshkosh; Brother: William Stevenson of Oshkosh; sister-in-law: Eva (Roland) Stelzner of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law: Melvin (Virginia) Bartelt of Appleton, and John (JoAnne) Bartelt of Oshkosh. He is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by infant daughter: Karen Kaye Stevenson; brother: Gilbert (Harriet) Stevenson; and sister-in-law: Jean Stevenson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, Reverend Lynn Scovil officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A Memorial is being established.
