Grace L. Maliske Thurston Shepherd, age 94, of Oshkosh, died Friday morning, November 11, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on March 20, 1911 in Adams County to Emil and Blanche (Murray) Nelson. She married Otto Maliske on November 16, 1929 and they resided in Pickett until his death on September 24, 1960. Grace moved to Oshkosh where she married Wallace Thurston and he preceded her in death in 1973. She later married Lowell Shepherd and they made their home in Wisconsin Rapids until his death in 1982. Grace returned to Oshkosh to be closer to her family. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett.


Survivors include two daughters: Dorothy (Marvin) Koplitz and Verna Hildebrand, both of Oshkosh; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren.


Preceding Grace in death are her parents; one daughter: Jeanette Parks; one grandson: Raymond Parks; a son-in-law: David Hildebrand; one sister: Edna Welles; and two brothers: Robert and Roger Nelson.


Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 14, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, with Reverend Russell Kloehn officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A memorial is being established in Grace's memory.
