Grace M. Vowels died April 14, 2023 at the age of 87 at Webster Manor.
She was born November 18, 1935 in Omro, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Max and Stella (Puhlman) Retzlaff.
She was made a child of God through holy baptism on December 15, 1935 and was confirmed in the faith on April 10, 1949.
Grace graduated from Omro High School in 1954. She married her beloved husband, Joseph Vowels Jr. on February 17, 1962 and kept faithful to her vows and oath to God until death. They made their home in Oshkosh for 10 years and then moved back to Omro. She is survived by her son, Gary (Debra) Vowels of Omro; daughter, Denise (Steve) Riegert of Lake Mary, FL.; five grandchildren, Amanda (Bryant Long), Bradley (Hannah) Vowels, Lindsey (Tyler) West, of Omro, Meagan (Mike) Tilley, and Gina Riegert of Orlando, FL; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Madeline, Owen, and Norah; brother, Clair Retzlaff; sister, Dorothy (Merlynn) Lovell of Omro, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Retzlaff, Margaret Retzlaff of Omro, Betty Vowels, Sharon Jones of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Roger Chapin of Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Vowels Jr.; three brothers, Orin Retzlaff, Charles Retzlaff, Lyle Retzlaff; sisters-in-law, Ruth Retzlaff, Arlene Chapin, Marion Retzlaff and Birdie Vowels; brothers-in-law, Melvin Vowels, Richard Vowels.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Omro and served as a Sunday School teacher, Ladies Guild member, Choir and Financial Counting Committee and Head of the Altar Guild.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave. Omro, WI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm, as well as Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 9am until 11am, services to follow with Pastor Mark Wenzel officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in the town of Poygan following services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Kwiatkowski Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
