G. Philip "Phil" Grundy, age 85, of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning, August 25, 2011, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Born on August 29, 1925 in Oshkosh, to Guy and Lillian Grundy, Phil married Mary Ann Jodarski on January 4, 1958, in Oshkosh. Mary Ann preceded him in death on September 21, 1997. Phil later married Charlotte Salzieder on July 25, 2004 and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2011.
A long-time area dairy farmer, Phil farmed on land that has been in the Grundy family for 150 years. He served as a Town of Oshkosh Supervisor from 1961-1967, was the Oshkosh Town Chairman from 1967-1983, Director of Winnebago County Holstein Association for 15 years, Past Director and Past President of Winnebago County Fair Association, member and Past Officer of Town of Oshkosh Volunteer Fire Department, member of Winneconne Masonic Lodge, Winnebago County Committee Member of US Farm and Home Administration, and Past Director of Fox Valley Farm Management Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Jack LaFontaine) Grundy of Oshkosh, Joan Tyson of Clintonville; a son, Philip (Tuesday) Grundy of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Marissa Schultz, Brandyn Grundy, Jamisen Grundy, and Collin Tyson; two step-children, Gary (Lois) Salzieder of Oshkosh and Vicki (Dave) Foster of Neenah; four step-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Pipkorn of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Grundy and Marge Grundy, both of Oshkosh; a brother-in-law, Gordon (Margaret) Jodarski of Berlin; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends. Preceding Phil in death are his parents, two brothers, Floyd and Mark Grundy, three brothers-in-law, Edward "Sut" Jodarski, Homer Pipkorn, and Bob Neuberger; and two sisters-in-law, Dolores Neuberger and Jane Jodarski.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 12 Noon, in Community Church, 2351 Ryf Road, with Reverend Alan Cleveland officiating. Inurnment will take place at Plummer Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
