Obituary

Hannelore "Hannah" (Dumeier) Jarvenpaa, age 86, of Omro, went to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her family by her side on Thursday, August 19, 2021, after a short battle with ovarian cancer.

Hannah was born in Kassel, Germany on June 10, 1935. She was the third of seven children who survived World War II. She met Art Jarvenpaa in Germany while he served in the Army. They married on April 1, 1959. They were married 61 years upon his death on February 14, 2020. Hannah had two children. They raised their family in Omro. Hannah was a hard worker. She was a faithful wife and mother. She went to work every day and made sure her family was well taken care of. She proudly became an American citizen on December 3, 1968.

Hannah worked many years as a seamstress at Neuberger in Oshkosh. She later worked for Omro Care Center and made sure everyone was well taken care of.

Hannah touched the lives of so many with her generosity and kind spirit. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.

Hannah was an avid baker and delighted in her nickname given to her from a neighborhood little boy, "Cookie Lady." She brought delicious treats to everyone she came in contact with. She generously donated her baked goods and knitted items to church bible classes, picnics, and fund-raisers. She always made sure she baked her cream puffs for Allan, Karen and Todd Jarvenpaa. She delighted in bowling with her teammates on Wednesday Senior League and subbing on Saturday couples league. Although she purchased new bowling balls throughout the years, she never stopped using her green ball purchased in 1966. She loved her flowers and seasonally decorated the outside of her home. She loved cooking feasts for her family. Nobody cooked better, but she did enjoy Perkins. Those who knew her best knew she had a funny sense of humor. She loved to talk to people. Her hobbies included bowling, knitting and sewing. She made "Packer" socks and mittens for everyone. She was a loving mother and will be dearly missed. She loved her grandchildren. Seeing them, or hearing about them, lit up her world.

Hannah is survived by her children Cindy (Kurt) Meier, Alvin (Bobbie Jo) Jarvenpaa. She was blessed with grandchildren Emily (Tom) Tetting, Krei (Sarah) Meier, Bret Meier, Alvin Jarvenpaa Jr, Eric Jarvenpaa; great-grandchildren Tanner Tetting, Sawyer Tetting, Olivia Jarvenpaa and a soon-to-be great-grandson expected in September.

We will truly miss her!

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and lasting until the time of the service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Mark Wenzel.
