Harold A. Zabel, age 87, died peacefully at home with his wife at his side, on September 29
th
, 2025. He is now joyfully with his Lord and Savior and loved ones before him.
He was born on May 21
st
, 1938, in Berlin, WI, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Kottke) Zabel, where he grew up.
He is an honorable Veteran of both the WI National Guard and Army of the United States, serving a total of five years. Two of those were served in Germany.
On September 24
th
, 1960, he was united in marriage to Billie Sue Miller of Oshkosh, WI, at First English Lutheran Church and they recently celebrated 65 years of their marriage.
Harold worked in construction, both at former Duwe Precast Concrete of Oshkosh and PCS Concrete of Omro, for 35-40 years, until he retired in 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Sue; daughter, Luana (Koller) Short; son, Ronie (Debbie) Zabel; five grandchildren and six bonus grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Wayne (Shar) Zabel, Howard (Carol) Zabel and Dick (Marilyn) Zabel; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Ruth (Kottke) Zabel; and parents-in-law, Bessie and William Miller.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 330 Foster Rd., Redgranite, WI, from 9:30am to 11:00am, with service at Church to follow at 11:00am.
Harold's final resting place will be at Welsh Cemetery, State Highway 49, Berlin, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his honor.
The family would like to thank all those involved in Aurora at Home Hospice and the Aurora Oncology Department- especially Dr. Dar, for all of their kindness and care along this journey.
