Harry "Babe" Brooks, age 85, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh. He was born July 16, 1918, in Omro, the son of Harry W. and Bessie Rice Brooks. He was a graduate of Omro High School. He married Judith Hankey in Omro on June 2, 1945. They lived on their farm in the township of Poygan for 22 years and then moved to the city of Omro. He enjoyed playing baseball on local teams. Harry was employed at Park View Health Center as a C.O.T.A. for 22 years. He was a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Omro.
Harry is survived by his wife, Judith, two daughters and sons-in-law: Beth and Roger Koepsel, Oshkosh, Bonnie and Jim Johnson, Sturgeon Bay; son and daughter-in-law: Alan and Marie Brooks, Janesville, WI; son Brian Brooks of Omro. Grandchildren are Ross Koepsel of Milwaukee; Dustin, Janelle, and Lauren Brooks of Janesville; step-grandsons Brian Johnson and his children Christopher and Brooklyn, of Gulfport, MS; Aaron Johnson and his wife Dana and their son Seth of Marinette, WI. His sister Betty Miller of Pickett survives Harry. Cousins and nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding Harry in death were his parents, and infant son Douglas, and a brother Floyd Brooks.
Memorial service will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Edward Slusser officiating. Burial will follow at the Omro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
