Helen M. Ahrens, age 79 of Oshkosh, died at Aurora Medical Center on Thursday, September 21, 2006. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 24, 1927 to Clarence and Rachel (Schaffer) Chambers. On November 20, 1947 she married William Ahrens in Oshkosh.

Helen was a caring and energetic woman who devoted herself to her family with meticulous care. She enjoyed doing music, crossword puzzles, walking, and being active. When she was younger she loved to dance.

Helen is survived by her husband: William Ahrens of Oshkosh; son: Tom (Sandra) Ahrens of Eau Claire; daughter: Peggy (Eric) Young of Madison; and grandchildren: Emily Ahrens of Milwaukee, Zachary Ahrens of Madison, and Zoe Young of Madison. She is further survived by a sister: Martha Winters of Alexandria, Virginia, and a brother: Gilbert (Ellen) Chambers of Berkley, California.

Private family services are being held and inurnment will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
