Obituary

Helen Alice Daggett age 89 beloved wife of the late Irving Edwin Daggett died Wednesday evening January 14, 2004 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh from pneumonia. She was born May 3, 1914 in Laclede, Idaho the daughter of William and Agnes Anderson Hackney. Helen graduated with honors from Omro High School in 1932 and later attended Green Lake County Teachers College. She married Irving Edwin Daggett on November 20, 1939 in the town of Rushford. They lived in the town of Rushford until they moved to Omro in 1949. Helen assisted her husband in many real estate ventures spanning from Greeley, Colorado to Poy Sippi, WI and Winnebago County. Helen and Irving were one of the founders of the Bethel Baptist Church in Oshkosh, WI.

Helen was a member of the Omro Homemakers, Moodie Bible Institute, loved God, quoted Bible and Verse and spent many years teaching Sunday School. She had worked at Evergreen Manor in Oshkosh and Berlin Memorial Hospital. Helen was an excellent singer and member of the Choir. She was an extreme advocate for the needy, helping them with housing in Omro. Helen loved the outdoors, especially Birch trees and was an avid bird watcher. She was a prolific reader and writer, related to the Bible and knew God's plan of Salvation.

Helen was the devoted mother of Joanne Daggett (Johnson) of Omro and Dr. John R. Daggett M.D. of Weinstadt, Germany. She is further survived by 2 grandchildren; Matthew Johnson and friend Holly Popowski of New York City and Sarah Daggett of Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.

Visitation will be held on Monday January 19, 2004 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and then on Tuesday at Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Blvd in Oshkosh from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian D. Kundinger officiating. Burial will be in the North Rushford Cemetery in the town of Rushford.
