Helen E. Frank, age 94, of Oshkosh, died Friday afternoon, October 20, 2006 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born on March 10, 1912 in Buffalo, South Dakota to Charles and Clara (Taylor) Parks. Helen's parents were homesteaders from Wisconsin who returned to Wisconsin after four years in South Dakota. Helen was raised in Iola, Wisconsin and after high school graduation she came to Oshkosh to attend Oshkosh Teacher's College. It was there that she met and later married John O. Frank on July 2, 1933.
Helen and John traveled weekends with their travel trailer, enjoying time with various family members, fishing and camping. Card playing was a favorite pastime for Helen, with Bridge the game of choice. Helen continued to play Bridge up to the time of her death. Many activities held Helen's interest and she was a member of various organizations, a few of which were, Century Club, Gamma Sigma Alumni, OptiMrs, and a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church (since 1949) and her church circle. Helen made many, many quilts for those in need. Her focus was always on faith and family, that was her mainstay in life.
Survivors include two sons, John Ronald Frank of Oshkosh, Robert (Beverly) Frank of Waupun; one daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Dickman, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ann) Frank, Stacy Deaton, Jacquelyn (Grady) Kuhn, Douglas (Charlene) Frank, Ellen (Matt) Blumer, Cynthia Caldwell, Andrew (Lynne) Dickman, and David Frank; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jane (Glenn) Sharratt. Preceding Helen in death are her husband, parents, two daughters-in-law, one great-grandson, three brothers, and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave, Oshkosh, with Reverend Thomas Willadsen officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and support will be held on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
