Helen Hannah Hildebrand, age 96, died on Monday, May 2, 2005, at Webster Manor in Omro. Helen was born February 9, 1909, on the family farm in Rushford Township to the late Michael James and Emma Margaret (Wagner) Morrissey. She graduated from Omro High School in 1927 and from Oshkosh Teacher's College in 1929. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1939. She taught in the elementary grades in the Sheboygan Public Schools for
twenty-two years, from 1929 to 1951.
Helen married William Nicholas Hildebrand on June 14, 1951, at St. Mary's, Omro, and they made their home on Bill's family farm. Bill died December 28, 1982. Helen moved to Omro in 1995, to Oshkosh in 2001, and back to Omro in 2004. Helen had been a member of the Maple Homemakers, the Winnebago County Retired Teachers Association, and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David
Steinkraus of Racine; her son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Lesley
Hildebrand of Bethesda, MD; her granddaughter, Emily Hildebrand of
Bethesda, MD; and nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Milo, Leon, and Lawrence and by her sister Mildred Brand.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 233 E. Scott St., Omro, with Rev. Joseph Mattern officiating. Family and friends may call at Marian Hall at St. Mary's, Omro, on
Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A luncheon in the church hall will follow immediately after the Mass. Burial will follow at Omro Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers missionaries in care of the family are appreciated.
