Helen J. Jaworski, age 72, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at her home. She was born on June 19, 1931 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Peter and Leona A. (Steinhilber) Kersztyn. Helen married Norbert J. "Nubbs" Jaworski on April 18, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Nubbs preceded her in death on April 25, 1995. Helen and Nubbs had owned and operated Liberty Gardens in Oshkosh for many years, along with being a skilled beautician. Helen was a very loving mother and grandmother who greatly enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. Her hobbies included baking, embroidery, fishing and playing games with her family. She was an active member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include seven children, Mary L. (Conrad) Bergman of Appleton, Patricia A. (Paul) Wasser, Barbara J. (Michael) Sylvester both of Waukesha, Jeanette I. (Daniel J.) Neumann, Ronald V. (Barbara) Jaworski, Richard P. Jaworski and Thomas S. Jaworski all of Oshkosh. Seven grandchildren, Aaron and Kimberly Wasser; Katherine, Sara Neumann; Benjamin, Victoria and Daniel Jaworski. Two brothers, Peter (Lavern) Kersztyn of Oshkosh and George (Sue) Kersztyn of Oshkosh. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Howard (Jackie) Wagner of Hot Springs, Arkansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Vern) Bolen; two sister-in-laws, Marcianna Wagner and Ruth Kersztyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 1333 Walnut Street, Oshkosh (corner of Walnut and Congress) with Fr. Robert Stegmann celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A parish wake service will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established.
