Helen L. Miller, age 71, of Oshkosh, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, January 8, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family. Helen was born on August 17, 1943, to Charles and Ida (Dyer) Raatz. She married John F. Miller on July 27, 1964. She was a kind, gentle woman who had a good heart and lovely smile. She could talk to anyone, making friends everywhere; then becoming everyone's mom. For over twenty-five years she worked as a lunch lady, first at Lakeside then at Franklin Elementary Schools; she loved children and animals, especially, dogs, cats, butterflies and birds. She collected toy tops, and enjoyed watching people enjoying them.
Helen is survived by her husband, John of Oshkosh; daughter, Angela Sue "Angie" Miller of Appleton; son, Eric Miller of Oshkosh; sister, Ruth (Gene) Bednar; sisters in law, Jean Raatz and Sandra (Larry) Kalata; brother in law, Gerald Miller; nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Fritz.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Seefeld Funeral Home on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Greenwald officiating. A memorial is being established at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
