Henry F. Clasen, age 82 of Oshkosh died at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, October 8, 2009. He was born in the Town of Poygan on October 19, 1926, the son of Henry and Margaret (Dowling) Clasen. On November 10, 1950 he married Joan Gilray in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Henry grew up attending schools in Winneconne. After graduating from high school he attended and received a Bachelor's degree from Oshkosh College. He continued school at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where he earned his Master's degree. With a love for education, Henry began his career as an Elementary School Principal in West Allis. He remained in that position for 30 years. After 33 years in West Allis, Henry and Joan returned to the Oshkosh area to make their home.
During WWII Henry served his country in the U.S. Army. He was dedicated to serving in the Lions Club, received the Melvin Jones Award, and then found joy working with the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Surviving Henry is his dedicated and loving wife of 59 years, Joan; son, Henry A. Clasen; daughter, Mary E. (James) Brigham; grandchildren: Michelle, Ben, Brian, and Sherry; brother, Ed (Jean) Clasen; and sister-in-law, Barb Clasen.
