Henry "Sonny" Kromm, age 83, of Oshkosh died peacefully Friday January 6, 2012 at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Oshkosh. He was born October 16, 1928 in Oshkosh, a son of the late Henry and Josephine (Verkuilen) Kromm. On July 28, 1952, he married Lois Wilke at Zion Lutheran Church. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage together, until her death on May 22, 2002.
Henry retired from the Universal Foundry in Oshkosh after over 25 years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed working for the City of Oshkosh as a crossing guard at Oaklawn School, and often shared stories of the children he would meet and interact with every day. He also served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1952 to 1958 in both the Army and the Naval Reserve, receiving honors for his duty with the Military Police. He enjoyed spending his free time at his cabin up north, visiting with his brother Floyd and other family members, and doing crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his brother, Floyd (Rose) Kromm; sister, Gloria Jean (Leon) Klatt of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; special friend, Lois Fikejs; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Along with his parents and wife, Henry was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Bessie Kromm; one sister, Wilma Wilson; brother-in-law, Eugene Wilson; infant brother, Richard Kromm; and niece, Cheryl (Klatt) Pochowski.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held.
