Hilbert E. Wilke, age 92, of Ripon, died Thursday afternoon August 21, 2008 from injuries of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in the Township of Nekimi on November 22, 1915 to Gustave and Ida (Buntrock) Wilke. Hilbert was united in marriage to Loretta Reitz on November 18, 1939 in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2000.


Hilbert and Loretta resided and farmed in the Townships of Black Wolf and Nekimi for several years. Hilbert has been a resident of the Township of Ripon for the past 20 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Ripon and St. John Lutheran Church - Oshkosh Senior Saints.


Left to mourn his passing is a son, Steven Wilke of Manawa; four grandchildren, Steven (Ann), Bradley, Andrea, and Andrew, all of Ripon; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray (Flossie) Reitz, Rexford (Donna) Reitz, Virginia Dehn, and Amber Plantz; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding Hilbert in death are his wife, parents, brother and sister -in-law, Harry and Nora Wilke, a niece, LaVerne Merton, and brothers-in-law, Victor Dehn and Foster Plantz.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Ray Poff officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
