Hilda E. Bieber, age 93, of Omro, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014. Hilda was born on November 10, 1920, to Lydia, nee Loppnow, and Arnold Hubrig in rural Omro. She attended the one-room rural Delhi School and graduated from Omro High School in 1938. After two years she graduated from Green Lake County Normal School and taught at the one-room Stone School for two years and at the Eureka State Graded School for three years. In 1945 Hilda was united in marriage to Norman H. Bieber of Omro. They took up residence in Omro where Norman assisted in the operation of the Omro Home Bakery. In 1963 they took over the ownership of the business and operated it until 1979 when they sold the business. In retirement Hilda was a world traveler, liked to play cards and was active in church and community organizations. She was active in Grace Lutheran Church choir, Grace Lutheran Ladies Guild, Grace Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Grace Lutheran Mission Quilters, Grace Lutheran Newsletter, Worthwhile Homemakers, Smear Card Club, Sheephead Card Club and Omro Women's Service League. Hilda is survived by three sons: Ronald (Shari) Bieber, Hayward, Wisconsin; Allan Bieber, Rochester, Minnesota; Stuart (MaryBeth) Bieber, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; one daughter, Maxine (Donald) Effenheim, Cedarburg, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman in 1988; sister, Irma in 1999; sister, Malinda in 2005; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.The visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, with the service to follow at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday in Omro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Hilda's name is being established.
