Howard E. Kossel, age 92, of Oshkosh, died Friday evening, January 8, 2010 at Park View Health Center. Born on December 14, 1917, in Oshkosh to Elmer and Ruth (Cater) Kossel, Howard married Doris Larsen on February 18, 1944.
A life-long area dairy farmer, Howard's love of agriculture, was a mainstay in his life. Because of this love, he was active in 4-H with his seven children. Howard was a life-long member of First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 65 years, Doris; seven children, Susan (Larry) Hamm of East Lansing, Michigan, Frederick Kossel of Neenah, Patricia (Donald) Roberts of Wausau, John (Jan) Kossel of Oshkosh, Ellen (Steven) Leppert of Worthington, Ohio, David Kossel of Oshkosh, and Mary (Steven) Kuehnl of Oshkosh; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas (Kathryn) Hamm, Matthew Hamm, Michael Kossel, Ryan (Maggie) Roberts, Mandy (Joshua) Wright, Jesse Kossel, Lisa (Dean) Jagielo, Joseph Kossel, Jason Kossel, Brian Leppert, Michelle Leppert, Paul (Heather) Kuehnl, and Jennifer (Benjamin) Morton; five great-grandchildren, Luke and Brooklyn Roberts, Ruby Fischer, Sylvia and Lucille Wright two brothers, Richard Kossel of Oshkosh and Robert (Elaine) Kossel of Oshkosh; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Raddatz of Oshkosh. Preceding Howard in death are his parents; a sister, Margaret Kossel; and a sister-in-law, Lois Kossel.
Private family services will be held with Reverend Timothy Greenwald officiating. Interment will follow the services at Ellenwood Cemetery.
