Obituary

Hubert Lane Hoeft, age 99 of Omro, died Tuesday afternoon, February 23, 2016, at the Omro Care Center. Hubert was born on October 19, 1916, in the Township of Poy Sippi, Wisconsin the son of the late George and Bertha (Lane) Hoeft. He married Edna Mae Lloyd on April 12, 1941. He was a highly respected farmer, while on the farm, after, and forever in the Omro area, a special friend, and a good neighbor.He was a graduate of Omro High School, attended vocational agricultural classes, taught by his brother Raymond Hoeft. An active member of the Omro Kiwanis, started the Registered Holstein Dairy Calf Gift Program, planted trees for the Winnebago County Conservation Service, was "clean up man" at the Winnebago County Fair, and was a faithful member of the Waukau United Methodist Church. On his 75th birthday, he walked 30 miles raising money for the Omro Pool in memory of his son Tommy.Hubert was very much loved and will be missed by his children, Mary Ellen (James) Knecht of Sherwood, WI, Frances Vanderventer of San Antonio, TX, Carol (Joe) Metzen of Omro, H. James Hoeft of Waukau, Hazel (Michael) Kaiser of Oshkosh, Lawrence J. (Tammy) Hoeft of Waupaca and Karen (James) Reichow of New London; grandchildren, Dan (Jodie) Knecht, John (Diane) Knecht, Amy Furreness, Alex (Edith) Vanderventer, Joe (Joanne) Metzen, Andy (Shayna) Metzen, Sonya Bock and Todd, Annette (Justin) Wilson, David (Crystal) Tovar, Darren (Anne) Kaiser, Wendy (Juan) Kesler, Abby Hoeft, Tom (Alex) Hoeft; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hoeft of Berlin; sister in law, Ferne Hoeft; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved son, Tommy, brothers, Donald, Lewis, Norman, Raymond, Kenneth, Merlin and sister, Luella Weller.The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Waukau United Methodist Church, Waukau, WI from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Jung officiating. Burial will follow at the Waukau Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Waukau United Methodist Church.The family would like to thank the entire staff at Omro Care Center as well as Dad's newest friend, Dale, for the excellent care given not only to our Dad, but the entire family.
