Hubert A. "Blackie" Sohm, age 86 of Oshkosh died at Bethel Home Tuesday morning June 12, 2007. He was born to Emil and Margaret (Schaick) Sohm in the Town of Black Wolf on March 12, 1921. On May 31, 1941 he married Goldie I. Sutton, enjoying 66 years together.
Blackie was the most wonderful man in the world to Goldie. He was gentle and thoughtful of others. He served his country in the Army-Infantry during World War II. He enjoyed playing golf and making wine. He wrote and published the book, "An Intoxicating Hobby: The ABC of Home-made Sugar Wines." Blackie is survived by his wife, Goldie; daughter, Karen Wynveen of Sheboygan; grandsons, Robert and Timothy Reischl; great-grandchildren: Sarah, Christine, Katie, Andrew, Steven, and Hannah Reischl; and sisters: Irene (William) Bachand, Marie Gartmann, and Eleanore Paulmann. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Emil Jr. and Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 15, 2007, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held at the funeral chapel on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park where full military honors will be given. A memorial is being established.
