Irma Elizabeth Heise Buhrow, age 91, of Omro, died April 9, 2008, at the Omro Care Center. She was born February 10, 1917, on the family farm on Heise Road to William and Emma Pietsch Heise. Irma married William Ralph Buhrow, November 1, 1942. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1994. Bill and Irma ran a dairy farm and raised four daughters. Irma enjoyed gardening, embroidery and crochet. Over the years she was employed ten years at Miles Kimball, another ten years at Standard Kohlsman, and finally at Berlin Hospital and Nursing Home. She enjoyed helping with newsletters at her church in Omro and while living in Arkansas. In Arkansas, she was involved with two church quilting groups. As a result she has many friends at five different Lutheran Churches.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by two step-daughters, Shirley Wolfrath and Carol Genal and her husband David; two daughters and son-in-law, Joan McDermott of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Lorna and Kendall Johnson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Quincy Heise, and three sisters, Dorothy Szep, Norma Arndt and Amber Felchlin.
Irma is an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Omro. Memorials may be made to the church building fund.
In respect to Irma's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Omro Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. and then again on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church, 5355 County Road K, in the Town of Zion, from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M., the funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Gregory Haugen officiating. Irma will be laid to rest in the Nepeuskun Cemetery.
