Iva Britton, age 101, passed away peacefully at her home in Oshkosh with her family at her side on Thursday, February 8, 2007. She was born on December 5, 1905 in Mederville, Iowa, the daughter of the late Edna and Charles Meder.

Iva graduated from high school in Elkader, Iowa, attended Grinnel College and Business College in La Crosse. While in La Crosse she met Milford E. Britton and they were married June 5, 1928 in the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa.

The Brittons have been in the shoe business for 79 years, 72 in Oshkosh where Iva worked for many years. She was a member of the Oelwein, Iowa Eastern Star Chapter for 83 years, a member for over 50 years of both the Twentieth Century Club and the American Legion Auxiliary #70, a Camp Fire leader and a long time volunteer for Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin.

Iva enjoyed volunteering and supported many community functions. She loved entertaining, everyone was always welcome. Her cooking and baking was well known and everyone has always been after her recipes. Iva had a heart of gold and will be truly missed by family, friends and by all those she inspired over the years.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Kurt) Prager of Las Vegas, Nevada and Judy Britton of Oshkosh; daughter-in-law, Sue Britton of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Cindy West of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Sheryl (Tom) Petrakis of Las Vegas, Brad and Paula Britton both of Oshkosh; great-grandchildren, Melissa (Billy) Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Britton and Katie Aardappel both of Oshkosh; and great-great-grandchild, William Nelson of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Milford E. Britton and their son, Bruce Britton.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 12th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 N. Eagle Street, the Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Family and friends may call at the Seefeld Eagle Street Chapel on Sunday from 4-7:00 PM and again on Monday beginning at 9:00 AM. Private interment services will be held at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial has been established.
