JOHN EGAN SCHUSTER "JACK"
Jack, 81, Berlin, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born at home on the family farm on February 13, 1928, to John and Elizabeth (Egan) Schuster. Jack graduated from Berlin High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956 in Europe. While overseas he had many memorable experiences and made lasting friendships.
After the service Jack returned home to the family farm where he lived his entire life. He and his brother Jerry had a life long partnership and took great pride in developing their operation into a successful business. They raised prizewinning Duroc pigs and their livestock was recognized statewide, nationally and internationally. For years, Jack and Jerry won consecutive grand champion awards at the Wisconsin State Fair. Jack enjoyed tending his fields and driving the tractor even as recently as the last harvest season. His nieces and nephews have wonderful memories of getting a ride on the tractor from Uncle Jack. Every year he looked forward to working along side his nephews on their adjoining farm.
Jack and his brother Jerry treasured their land and the heritage that came with it. Their conservation efforts and stewardship of the land and wildlife upon it, is a virtue and way of life that has been passed down to their nieces and nephews.
Jack's greatest passion came from spending time with his relatives and friends. It didn't matter if it was breakfast next door on his nephew's farm or a beverage at the kitchen table in the evening with his neighbors. Jack will be remembered for his strong Catholic faith, his many accomplishments of improving and building the farm, and the many lives he touched in a positive way with his guidance and wisdom. Even up until the end, his humor put a smile on everyone's face.
A loving thank you is extended to Jack's neighbor, Judd Hodgen, a caring friend and "Guardian Angel" who looked after Jack and the farm the past couple of years. Also, the family would like to thank the staff at Berlin Memorial Hospital for caring for Jack and their kindness toward the family.
Jack will be deeply missed by his sister, Margaret Cismoski; brother-in-laws, Loren Cismoski and Richard Doro; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth; brothers, Joe and Jerry; sisters, Betty Schuster and Mary Doro and sister in law, Naomi Schuster.
