Obituary

Jack D. Voruda, age 87 of Oshkosh passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 at Park View Health Center. He was born November 23, 1922 to John Jerry and Elsie (Heisler) Voruda in Chicago. He attended high school at Lane Tech in Chicago and one of his favorite achievements was making quarterback for the Chicago Junior Bears team. With this achievement he would play during halftime of Chicago Bears home games. After high school Jack joined the Navy and became a pilot, attending many different flight schools and achieving the rank of Ensign. After serving our country, he went on to various colleges including, the University of Illinois at Galesburg and Wisconsin State University at Oshkosh.

Jack married the love of his life, Marjorie Williams on July 5, 1952 in Wild Rose. They later moved to Milwaukee in 1957 where Jack worked for Delco Electronics, developing the Guidance System for numerous space missions, including the Apollo mission, helping to land a man on the moon. For his work in developing the system Jack was one of the few people chosen to have their name on a scroll that now is on the moon. Jack also worked for many places after moving to Oshkosh in 1973. Jack was a huge Bears and Cubs fan.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marjorie; children: Richard (Sandra) Voruda, Barbara (Chuck) Lakefield, Mary Beth (Steven) Struensee; granchildren: Kristina (Matt) Brand, Richard (fiance Nora) Seefeldt, Derrick Voruda, Adam Voruda, Staci and Drew Struensee; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Jack, Alexis, Emily, Abigail, Richard, Kale and Tavien. Each one tenderly known as a "keeper" in their grandfathers words. Jack is further survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.

Memorial service for Jack will take place at 1:00p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Avenue, Oshkosh, with Reverend Tom Willadsen officiating.
