Jacob Karst, age 90, of Oshkosh, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at his home. Born on October 14, 1921, in Colorado, to Gottfred and Katherine (Greenenmier) Karst, Jacob married Elizabeth Sawicki on August 20, 1946, in Oshkosh, and she preceded him in death on April 14, 1987.
An Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific Theatre, Jacob was employed for 10 years in the printing department at Diamond Match Company in Oshkosh. Later, he worked for Central Paper Company in Menasha for 10 years, before being employed for 18 years at Badger Lumber Manufacturing at which time he retired.
Left to mourn Jacob's passing is a son, Ronald L. Karst of Oshkosh. Jacob was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 14 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Interment will take place in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
