Jacqueline Josephine (nee Jennings) Nelson, 92, passed away on December 16, 2023. She was born in Kenosha, WI on January 1, 1931 to Thomas and Alma Jennings.
Jackie married John Henry Nelson on September 22, 1956. She was an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter for friends and family as her parents were deaf. Jackie attended nursing school after graduating from high school. She worked in the family-owned business "John's Drive In" in Waukesha and after that was sold, went to work in the office at Johnson Controls in Milwaukee later retiring from Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District. She attended Mount Mary University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. Together with her husband John, they traveled all over in the UK, the USA and beyond, including: England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Alaska, South Dakota, Florida and many other states. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cottage near Eagle River, Wisconsin enjoying fishing, gardening, and watching and feeding the birds. Jackie loved the birds and her love for these flying masters was shared with her children and grandchildren. Jackie learned to cross-stich and needlepoint where she loved working on her stitching into the wee hours of the morning. Jackie would tell her children later in life that Dad would ask her if she was coming to bed and she would say

soon, since I just need to finish this row. Many of her works are displayed in her children's homes.
John and Jackie sold their cottage up north and their home in Milwaukee and lived in a condo on Rock Lake in Lake Mills, Wisconsin where John passed away on February 1, 2011. During this time, Ralphie a miniature pinscher kept Jackie company in her later years and kept her young at heart.
Jackie was an avid walker of all seasons, walking her many dogs over the years in the field and woods behind her house. Jackie was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, attending bible studies and often volunteering to fold program brochures. She volunteered her time at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Lake Mills keeping her section organized while always keeping an eye open for a piece of crackle glass, an owl, or a good book. Jackie and her husband loved to entertain the grandchildren during holidays and summer vacations. She especially loved baking Christmas cookies and made a Kringle second to none. Many of her favorite recipes have been passed down and are still made by her grandchildren. She and Ralphie moved to Bella Vista Assisted Living in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 2018. She spent her final years hears enjoying Bingo (aka: the Bingonator), completing word searches and watching the game shows for entertainment.
She is survived by her children, John J. (Mary) Nelson, Kathleen (Jeff) Myszewski, Judith (Matt) Keith, and Kimberly Nelson; grandchildren, John R. (Mary) Nelson, Ian (Hope) Nelson, Quenton Nelson, Jared (Faith) Nelson, Christopher (Courtney) Myszewski, Matthew Myszewski, Caitlin (Daniel) Menge, Matthew Duncan Keith; great-grandchildren, John Henry Nelson, Millie Nelson, Josephine Nelson, Ned Nelson, Bella, Skyler Nelson, Violet Myszewski and Rowan Menge. Sisters-in-law, Marlene Jennings, Elaine (John) Roubik; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Robert) Jordan, Steve (Patti) Jennings, Ryan (Karin) Jennings, Mark (Karen) Roubik, Glenn Roubik, and Gordon Roubik. She is further survived by Thomas (Barbara) Schmidt, and Delores "Honey" Schmidt.
She is preceded in death by her brother, DeWitt Jennings and other family members.
A celebration of life is being held on Tuesday February 6th, with visitation being held from 9am until the time of service at 11am at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh, WI 54902.
