James R. Daubert

July 29, 1950 – January 4th, 2026

James R. Daubert, known to many as Jim, lived a life defined by service, leadership, faith, and deep devotion to his family and community.

Jim was born on July 29, 1950, to Alvin Daubert and Arline Daubert. He graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1968 and soon after answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. On November 12, 1971, he married Elizabeth Maitland, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, shared values, and mutual respect.

Jim served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1969 until 1989, retiring as a Technical Sergeant after twenty years of service. He served as an air traffic controller, a role requiring precision, calm judgment, and absolute accountability. During his military career, he received several awards, including two meritorious Service Awards, recognizing his exceptional performance and dedication to duty.

Following his military retirement, Jim continued his public service in law enforcement. He joined the Omro police department in 1990 and served in a variety of leadership roles until retiring in 2010 as Assistant Chief of Police. In addition, Jim served as a firearms instructor for the Omro Police Department, where he was respected for his discipline, knowledge, and commitment to officer safety.

Jim remained deeply engaged in civic and community life. He served two terms as an Alderman and was an active member of the American Legion. His faith was central to his life, and he was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. There, he served on the church council and as treasurer, and he was especially proud of leading a GriefShare class every Monday night, offering compassion and guidance to others navigating loss. Jim valued fellowship and camaraderie, which he enjoyed through his participation in a dartball league.

Jim was a proud and loving father to three sons: Dean and Angie Daubert, Paul Daubert, and Scott and Stephanie Daubert. He is survived by his sons, brother, Jack Daubert, and by his grandchildren: Alissa, Breanna, Landon, and Madison

He is also survived by his loyal companion, his beloved Border Collie, Derby, who was rarely far from his side.

Jim’s life was marked by his honor, integrity and selfless service to others. He will be remembered for his devotion to country, community, faith, and family, and for the many lives he touched through his faith, leadership, mentorship, and genuine care for other.
