James G. Geen, age 75 of Oshkosh, died at his home on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. He was born in Ironwood, Michigan on August 2, 1932 to John and Ruth (Hoskin) Geen. He grew up in Ironwood and then served his country in the Navy for four years. After his time in the service he met Janice Belkye. They married in Oshkosh on June 29, 1957.
James was an active member of St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church since its beginning. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and raising pigeons. He sang in the church choir, was outgoing, king and caring. He could talk to anybody. He worked for the George Whiting Paper Mill his entire working career.
James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice; children: Sandy Eichhorst, Richard (Shirley) Geen, David Geen, and Donald Geen; grandchildren: Robyn (Joe) Kortz, Tina (Shannon) Knobloch, Richard Geen Jr., and Bart Jr. (Laura) Eichhorst; great-grandchildren: Chloe and Cameron Kortz, and Dale Knobloch; and James' siblings: John, Albert, Raymond, and Reginald Geen, and Ruth Jelliffe. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Nicole Geen; and great-grandchild, Liam Kortz
Funeral services for James will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Murdock Ave, with Reverend Karen Jewell officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing support will be held at the church on Friday, June 13, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and will resume at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
