James H. Kempf, age 75, of Omro, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, with his family by his side. He was born in Oshkosh on March 19, 1940 to Vernice "Mike" and Viola (Miller) Kempf. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He married Barbara Lemke June 27, 1964. He worked as a machinist for over 40 years, first for Kieckhaefer and then Mercury Marine. Jim was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church; serving as an usher, youth counselor, a member of the building committee and financial accounting committee. He was a member of the Omro-Rushford Volunteer Fire Dept. since 1963. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and playing cards. Jim is loved and will be missed by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Charisse "Chari" (fiancé Tom Radke) Kempf and her son, Daniel "Danny" Kempf; Linda (Gene) Rusch and their son, Anthony "Tony" Rusch; sister, Judith Kamrath; sisters in law, Catherine (Richard) Stark and Michell "Shelly" (Leo) Dorsch; nieces and nephews, Susan Stark, David (Christine) Stark, Stephanie (Thomas) Kamrath-Wright, Misty (Nicholas) Stewart, Andrea (Tony) Schaefer; numerous great nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Vi Kempf; infant brother, Jonathan; infant daughter, Sandra; mother and father in law, Ralph and Helen Lemke; and brother in law, Wesley Kamrath.Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at Grace Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 10:00 until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Jim will be laid to rest in the Omro Cemetery.The family wants to thank the staff of the Veterans Home in King, WI and the Theda Care Hospice for the care they provided for Jim.
