Obituary

James T. Marquart, age 64, of Oshkosh, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. He was born on April 10, 1941 in Oshkosh to Tom and Audrey (Reider) Marquart. Jim married Suzanne Knoblock on September 30, 1989 in Oshkosh.


Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he served as a lector, communion distributor, choir member, and on various church boards and committees. He was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and Marquette Law School. Jim was a private attorney in Omro and Oshkosh. He had also served as Winnebago County Assistant Family Court Commissioner and as the Burnett County Assistant District Attorney. Jim was a former Alderman and Attorney for the city of Omro and a member of the Omro Kiwanis and Jaycees. He had a passion for judo, where he obtained a black belt, and earned the right to attend the National Judo Tournament in St. Louis. Jim passed on this knowledge to children and adults as a judo instructor. He had a love of camping, visiting courthouses, and animals. Love of animals led him to be the Vice-President of Winnebago County Domestic Animal Response Team. Jim had also been a member of Oshkosh Choraliers.


Survivors include his wife: Suzanne of Oshkosh; one son: Dr. Michael (Wanda) Marquart of Oconomowoc; one daughter: Dr. Melissa Marquart of Neenah; his father: Tom Marquart of Oshkosh; two sisters: Marilyn (Alan) Irving of Oshkosh; Nancie (Jeff) West of Sparks, Nevada; one brother: Robert (Dana
"Gabe") Marquart of Oshkosh; father-in-law: Donald Knoblock of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law: Jeanne (James) Kairis of Oshkosh; Lesa (Dean) Utecht of Slidell, Louisiana; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Preceding Jim in death are his mother, Audrey, and mother-in-law: Marjorie Knoblock.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 442 Monroe Street. A time of visitation and support will be held on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Private burial services will be held for the family. The family in Jim's memory is establishing a memorial.
