James A. "Uncle Jim" Poellinger, 84, passed away on May 19, 2025, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born April 4, 1941, in Oshkosh to Paul J. Sr. and Nona Maybelle (Collier) Poellinger.
James attended and graduated from Oshkosh High School and went into the U.S. Navy where he worked in the engine room during the Cuban Blockade.
He and Lois "Lucy" Gransee got married in 1966 and together they raised their son, Steven Poellinger. James worked as an independent sales agent and worked for the Lutheran Brotherhood. He wrote Security Plus policies for over 20 years in Waukesha. James later owned and operated Uncle Jim's Woodworking – designing and duplicating antique furniture. He was very active in dart tournaments under the name of Uncle Jim. James also loved to collect antique cars. He will be remembered for being kind, helpful and thoughtful.
James is survived by his son, Steve (Laurie) Poellinger; grandchildren, Nicole (Nathaniel) Macht and Alexis Poellinger; brothers, David (Bonnie) Poellinger and Paul (Sandy) Poellinger Jr.; and sister, Marlenea Erhard; he is further survived by his former wife, Lois "Lucy" Poellinger as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Paul Sr. and Nona Poellinger; and sister, Nancy Poellinger.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11am at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh, WI, with military honors to follow.
