A life-long resident of Oshkosh, Jim was born on March 13, 1942 to the late Robert F. and Frieda M. (Mittelstadt) Steinike. On November 23, 1968 Jim married Beverly M. For many years Jim caused and enjoyed lots of laughs while working in the beer tent at the parish picnics and festivals. He was also a long-standing member of UAW Local 578 having served as the recording secretary. ? As an employee of Oshkosh Truck Corporation for 38 years, "Steiny" enjoyed his job and co-workers immensely. He was a hard worker and took pride in his company's truck products by taking pride in his own work in the machine shop. ? Jim truly had a zest and love for life, and was always the life of any party with his infectious hearty laugh and vast collection of jokes! He enjoyed most kinds of music - from classical to polkas. He yelled at the TV during countless Packer games - "get em, get em! Jim also enjoyed time with family from card playing, cribbage, and the sing (shout) alongs at Bob's with Bill at the piano. Sunday breakfast at Mike's Place was a ritual with Jim carrying his perpetual candy supply for the staff. He was a handy person and always had time to help family, friends, and neighbors for any type of projects. He will be greatly missed by many whose lives he touched. ?
