Obituary

James Harold Tritt, Jr., age 84, of Omro, died Saturday, February 25, 2017, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family at Mercy Medical Center. Jim was born March 3, 1932, in the Town of Poygan, the son of James H. and Hazel (Feavel) Tritt. He attended Omro High School and later served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. Upon his return home, he married Lenora (Norie) Stone on May 5, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church in Omro, of which he was a faithful member for many years. He had worked at Wagner Cheese Factory, Winnebago State Hospital, and together Jim and Norie worked the family dairy farm, milking over 30 years. After selling his cows in April of 1994, he continued to cash crop for another 15+ years. When he finally retired from farming, Jim spent countless hours mowing lawns and tending to the fish ponds. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events. Jim freely volunteered his time and served as an elder along with being on several committees at church. He also served on the Draft Board and was a board member of Manitowoc Mutual Insurance Co. Jim's hobbies included bowling, playing pool, fishing, hunting deer and elk and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Jim was extremely proud of his family and cherished spending time with them and was always eager and willing to lend a helping hand wherever he could.Jim is loved and will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Norie; children, Tracey (Randy) Lovell, Gwen (George) Kafer, Colleen (John) Jones, Larry (Connie) Tritt, Sheri (John) Egan; grandchildren, Lindsay Lovell, Ryan (Katie) Lovell, Kurt Lovell, George (Cassandra) Kafer, Travis Kafer, Courtney Jones, Jenica Jones, Erin (Cody) Larson, Megan (Adam) Potratz, Hannah (Brad) Vowels, Edward Egan, and Madeline Egan; great-grandchildren, Elise Lovell, Charlotte Lovell, Kallie Kafer, Makayla Kafer, George S. Kafer, Ava Larson and Brody Larson. Other family includes his sisters, Phyllis (Bernie) Silverthorn, Faye Hoffman (friend, Don Harness), Peggy (Eugene) Allen; brother, Darrell Tritt (friend, Maryann Johnson); sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Toodie) Tritt, Ruth Stone; brothers-in-law, Russell (Lois) Stone, and Leonard Stone; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harland Tritt; brothers-in-law, Clayton Jensen, Art Hoffman, Arlyn Hollander, Rex Stone; sisters-in-law, Judy Tritt, Jean Hollander and Marie Stone. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the funeral home in Omro, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then again on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, 955 N. Webster Ave., Omro, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow at church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Travis Shafer and Jim's grandson, Rev. George Kafer officiating. Immediately following the service at church, Jim will be laid to rest on the same day he was welcomed into this life on March 3, with full military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery in the Town of Poygan. A memorial in his name is being established. Jim's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Mercy Medical Center, DaVita Dialysis Center, and all the family and friends that have touched his life.
