Jamil C. "Jim" Roggow, age 86, of King, Wisconsin and formerly of Omro, died Thursday evening, January 11, 2018, at Theda Care Medical Center in Waupaca. Born on July 12, 1931, in Omro, the son of John and Amanda (Nitzke) Roggow, Jamil married Audrey Krause and she precedes him in death.
During the Korean War, Jamil served honorable with the U.S. Navy. After the war he was employed as a Nursing Aide at the Winnebago Mental Health Hospital. He was known as the "TV Tech man" and enjoyed getting TV sets to work again, always having several models in repair mode in his garage. He had a very strong faith in God and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and later as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Being very patriotic, Jamil was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his former son-in-law, Jeffrey (Sherrie) Gibson of Fond du Lac; good friends, Charlie and Jan Bitter of Oshkosh; and close friend, Mike. Jamil was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and daughter, Diane Gibson, on June 27, 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Wisconsin. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel.
