Obituary

Jane Adeline Kaufmann (Benner), Oshkosh Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday March 15, 2018 at age 95. She lived a joyful and active life, always smiling and sharing her sunshine with everyone around her.

Jane Benner was born March 13, 1923 in Oshkosh. She was the last surviving of seven Benner children born to the late Mary K. Benner (Paffenroth) and Conrad Benner. She graduated Oshkosh High School in 1941 and made a lifetime of memories in Oshkosh.
On May 8, 1948, she married her one true love, Anton (Tony) Kaufmann. Tony was born March 15, 1919 and served in WWII. He took a shine to Jane when he returned home from the war and began a courtship, writing her letters and asking for her hand in marriage. They were married at St. Peter's Catholic church and hosted a reception with family and friends at the Benner home on Dove Street.

Jane and Tony shared a love for bowling, playing cards, traveling and Wheel of Fortune, never missing an episode and always solving the bonus puzzle. During their 46 years of marriage, they celebrated their two-day apart March birthdays together.
They raised three sons, whom Jane affectionately called 'the boys'. Steve (Dawn) Kaufmann, Tom (Barb) Kaufmann and Mike (Lou) Kaufmann.

After Tony's passing in 1994, Jane embraced her independence. She settled into an apartment and traveled with the Sugar and Spice Dancers of the Oshkosh Senior Center. When she wasn't dancing, she was knitting for family and charity, playing bingo or solving jigsaw puzzles. She was a social butterfly who loved spending time with her friends and family. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

On March 15, 2018, she accepted an invitation to join Tony for a long overdue birthday celebration in Heaven. Jane passed on what would have been his 99th birthday, two days after her 95th. The boys were together by her side when she was called to her eternal resting place to be with their Father and her beloved Husband.

"In God's plan, nothing happens by chance." St. John Paul II.
Jane is also reunited in Heaven with her five sisters, Helen M. Kinderman, Alice C. Eichman, Betty J. Loechelt, Lorraine M. Freiberg, Mary Ann Jungwirth; and two brothers Leonard and Milton C. Benner. She is survived by her sister-in-law Joanne Hagene Benner (Milt) and brother in law Edward "Sonny" Jungwirth (Mary Ann).

Jane was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She is fondly remembered as 'Grandma Jane' by her Grandchildren Bryan (Heather) Kaufmann, Krista (David) Kaufmann, Melissa Welles, Stevie (Jim) Kuschewski, Johni (Mike) Nowicki, Katie (Mike) Tolles, Adam (Becky) Kaufmann and Matt Kaufmann. She has 11 great grandchildren who adored their Great Grandma Jane.

Funeral service for Jane will be at 11:00 am on Friday March 23, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 N. Eagle Street, with Pastor John H. Seelman officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Private interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park where Jane will rest in peace beside her beloved Husband, Tony for all eternity.
