Janet Evans, age 97, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday afternoon, November 28, 2007 at Park View Health Center. A private family celebration of life will be held at later date.
Janet was born on January 22, 1910 in Oshkosh to John and Itola (Baker) Evans. She received her BS Degree from Stout (now University of Wisconsin-Stout) and a Master's Degree from Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. She taught kindergarten in Katonah, New York and Denton, Texas. While living in Oshkosh, Janet became the first teacher of children with exceptional developmental challenges. She was a Life Member of American Association of University Women, Bird Club, OEA, WEA, and NCA. She was also a member of Oshkosh Historical Society, Oshkosh Public Museum and was very proud to be associated with Hearthstone Historic House Museum, in Appleton.
Survivors include two nieces, Marilyn Driver, her son, Jason Driver of Lubbock, Texas, and Barbara Davis and her children, Nathan and MaryEllen Imfeld of Eugene, Oregon. Janet is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret Ellen (Evans) Davis.
Janet was also very fortunate to have the highest quality of care at Park View Health Center. Donations for resident needs, in memory of Janet, would be greatly appreciated by her family.
