Janet E. Kolodzik, 74 years of age, of Fort Meyers, Florida and Oshkosh, Wisconsin, died after a brief illness on July 14, 2013, in the loving presence of her family. Janet was born on December 18, 1938, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of Victor and Erna Fink. Her working career was with the Winnebago County, first in Family Court; transferring to the District Attorney's office and finishing her career in Circuit Court Br. IV. After retirement she wintered in Ft. Myers, Florida and spent her summers in Wisconsin. While in Wisconsin, she served as a volunteer for disaster assignments with the American Red Cross for almost five years, putting that on hold when she became caregiver for her mother. Also volunteered for nearly 20 years with EAA.
Survivors include two sons, David (Vickie), three very special step grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Jonathon and Jeremy Alavarez who came into her life later, (Jan always considered this an extra bonus) all of Houston, Texas; Robert and special friend, Alicia Wildenberg, Land of Lakes, WI and Appleton, WI; daughter, Linda (Jason Kromm); grandson and the love of her life, Casey, all of Oshkosh; two sisters, Jane Fink and Kay (Ken) Kriegel, both from Oshkosh; and three nephews all with wonderful families. Jan always felt so blessed to have so many very special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Seefeld Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Carl Knitt officiating. Visiting and sharing memories will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, it was Jan's request that you make a donation to either your favorite charity or hers, the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
