Janice Nancy (Lund) Peil, age 88, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2025.
Janice was born on August 12, 1937, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Arthur and Demanda Lund. As a young woman, she was full of energy and determination. She skated in the Escanaba Ice Follies and worked at the local A&W for 25 cents an hour. Living very much like a pioneer, Janice left her small hometown at the age of 18 and traveled 227 miles to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in search of opportunity. She first lived with an aunt, then found work and moved in with a coworker, Darlene Peil-where she met the love of her life, Carl Peil.
Janice and Carl were married on October 19, 1957, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 61 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Janice was deeply involved in her children's lives through scouting, Brownies, camping, and snowmobiling, and she remained active in Church throughout her life.
After retiring, Janice and Carl moved to Townsend, Wisconsin, where they became members of St. John Lutheran Church. They played an instrumental role in founding the Christian Food Pantry, with Janice serving in leadership positions in both Ladies Aid and the pantry. Never afraid of hard work, she worked side by side with Laborers for Christ during a Church addition project and formed lasting friendships through that effort.
Following Carl's passing on November 15, 2018, Janice relocated to Thiensville, Wisconsin, where she lived with her daughter, Kathy until her final days.
Janice is survived by her loving children: Michael (Karen) Peil of St. Augustine, Florida; Kathy Aiello and Robin Vobroucek of Thiensville, Wisconsin. She was a proud grandmother to Jerrod (Angie) Aiello, Jason (Corie) Aiello, Mackenzie (Jason) Reddy, Michael Jr. (Katie) Peil and Charlie Vobroucek, and a cherished great-grandmother to Lorenzo, Evelyn and Finley Aiello. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Janice will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Carl at Baileys Harbor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her honor.
