Jean Ferguson, age 86, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Friday morning, September 17, 2010, at Evergreen Retirement Community. Born on September 25, 1923, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Sebastian and Maude (Cyrtmus) Bingen, Jean married Byron Ferguson on August 30, 1947
A long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Jean served the church in several capacities. Locally she was employed by Leach Corporation and Service-Litho Print.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years; children, Scott (Deborah) Ferguson, Steven (Cheryl Maranto) Ferguson, Susan Ferguson, Sally (Bruce) Schowengerdt, and Sharon (Randy) Shy; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret (Bill) Brinckman and Mary Bingen; and a brother, Jim (Jean) Bingen. Preceding Jean in death was a sister, Dorothy Spiece.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 605 Merritt Avenue, with Reverend William Van De Kreeke officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean's memory may be given to Evergreen Retirement Community Employee Appreciation Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.
